NCAA Football Preview - Pac 10

Times are changing in the Pac-10 (12?). Some changes are for the better, some for the worst, and some are almost impossible to predict. Arguably, the biggest story in the division is the sanctions against USC. Though everyone foresaw that the Trojans would face some penalties, nobody saw the loss of 30 scholarships and two seasons worth of wins (and a National Championship) as plausible. Though players and coaches from that era have vehemently denied any wrongdoing, the damage is done. Now, the rest of the Pac-10 is hungry to take the mantle of the best of the West. As shown last year by Oregon, Oregon State, UCLA, etc. the Pac-10 is stacked. USC is still loaded with talent, but outgoing transfers to rivals may prove to be too much. After an impressive run to the Rose Bowl, Oregon was set to make a run to the national championship this year. However, bonehead decisions by starting QB Jeremiah Masoli which include stealing from a frat house and being caught with marijuana have probably dashed Oregon’s hopes. Watch Heisman hopefuls Jake Locker of Washington and Jacquizz Rodgers of Oregon State try their best to make sure the Trojans pay for their decade of dominance.
