FanFeedr’s NFL Power Rankings For Week 12

Welcome to FanFeedr’s NFL Power Rankings for Week 12. This is your top 15 of the National Football League. Check in every week to see who took a tumble and who is rising up the charts like Katy Perry.

1. Green Bay Packers (10-0): The Packers got a “scare” from the Buccaneers and still beat them by nine points. The Pack head to Motown to take on the Lions on Turkey day.

2. San Francisco 49ers (9-1): Another NFC West game and another beat-down handed down by the Niners. They will travel to Baltimore for Harbaugh Bowl I on Thanksgiving night.

3. New Orleans Saints (7-3): The Saints were on the bye and saw Atlanta inch closer in the  NFC South. The Saints will welcome a reeling Giants team on Monday Night Football.

4. Baltimore Ravens (7-3): The Ravens are NFL version of Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde. They take care of business against Cincy and Pittburgh, but lay an egg against teams like Seattle. Let’s see what team shows up for Harbaugh Bowl I on Thanksgiving night.

5. Pittsburgh Steelers (7-3): Big Ben has a fractured thumb but he is a gamer. It helps that he is going against the fast fading Chiefs. He could probably beat KC with two broken thumbs.

6. New England Patriots (7-3): Gronkmania is the biggest mania since Hulkamania and its gripping all of New England. Gronk and the Patriots head into a dangerous game versus Philly on Sunday. However, no one can stop Gronk and neither will Vince Young’s “Dream Team”.

7. Detroit Lions (7-3): Matt Stafford got his groove back in a comeback win over Carolina.  He better be ready to hurl the pigskin another 38 times on Thanksgiving. This is going to be a good ole shootout and Aaron Rodgers is sporting a howitzer.

8. Dallas Cowboys (6-4): How ‘bout those Cowboys? Tony Romo has been playing at a MVP level and Dallas now finds themselves in first place in the NFC East. However, the red-hot Miami Dolphins are coming to Big D for turkey and stuffing.

9. Houston Texans (7-3): Matt Leinnart is the new Matt as the old Matt went down with a season ending injury. If Gary Kubiak is smart, he will just give the rock to Foster and Tate.  More running game, less chance for Leinart to implode and snuff Houston’s playoff hopes.

10. Chicago Bears (7-3): Jay Cutler throws a pick, tries to make a tackle and breaks his finger. He needs to watch film on Tom Brady and not chase down 300 lb defenders. Now Cutler is out for at least a month and the Bears will be led by Erik Kramer or is it Steve Walsh? No I got it it’s Caleb Hanie. It’s pretty much up to Matt Forte and the defense to weather the storm until Cutler heals up.

11. Atlanta Falcons (6-4): Matt Ryan and Roddy White are finally heating up which is not good news for opposing defenses. With a hot passing game, Michael Turner and a stout defense, they could make some hay in the NFC South. They are licking their chops when the Adrian Peterson-less Vikes come to ‘Hotlanta.

12. New York Giants: (6-4): I guess Eli Manning still thinks he an elite quarterback after he lost to the immortal Alex Smith and Vince Young. Can Manning shake his swoon? Doesn’t get any easier for the G-men as they head to the Big Easy on Monday night.

13. Cincinnati Bengals (6-4): Cinderella looks a little ragged after back to back losses to the Steelers and Ravens. There is no doubt Cincy was playing a bit above their heads but they are still in the playoff mix. They will face off against state rival Cleveland this Sunday.

14.  Oakland Raiders (6-4): The Raiders survived a 2-8  Vikings team without AP. Luckily, they play a Bears team at home without Jay Culter.  Its time for the Raiders to separate themselves from the rest of the dregs of the AFC West.

15. New York Jets (5-5): The Jets are the Cybil of the NFL. They definitely have a personality disorder that Dr. Rex can’t cure. The dysfunctional Buffalo Bills is just what the doctor ordered this week.

Game of The Week/Fantastic Finish Of The Week: Uh Oh Gano!

Just when you thought the Redskins could beat their long time rival Dallas and stop the bleeding…..uh oh Gano!

The Redskins and Cowboys played in a back and forth affair in DC this past Sunday. The game started like so many others for the Redskins this season.

Dallas opened a 10-0 lead going into the second quarter. Quarterback Rex Grossman decided to put the team on his back as he two led touchdowns drives to take the lead 14-10. They even tacked on a Graham Gano field goal to open a 17-10 lead in the third quarter.

Just when you thought Washington was wrestling the game away from the Cowboys, Gano happened. Graham Gano missed a 49 yard field goal which would have given the Redskins a 20-10 point lead. The Cowboys would go on to score two touchdowns on passes from Tony Romo to Laurent Robinson and a 59 yard pass to Jason Witten.  

Most fans in Washington probably thought their team had no chance to tie this game, but in this game expected the unexpected. Rex Grossman led a game tying drive which culminated with a four yard pass to Donte Stallworth with 22 seconds left on the clock.

Could the Redskins pull off the upset? Could they finally break their five game losing streak? Could they hand their hated rival a devastaing loss?

Uh oh……Gano.

The Reskins won the coin toss and got the ball in the extra session. Graham Gano was set up to be the hero and atone for his missed field goal earlier in the game, but this is the Redskins. Gano missed the field goal and the District of Columbia cursed his name in unison.

The Dallas Cowboys did what good teams do, they found a way to win. Tony Romo didn’t make any mistakes and set up his kicker Dan Bailey for the 39 yard winner.

Dallas escaped Washington with the victory and Washington stole defeat from the jaws of victory.

Uh oh…looks like no ‘mo Gano in Washington.

Touchdown Of The Week: LeGarrette Blount’s Tackle Busting Run

Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back LeGarrette Blount scored the Feed Bag’s touchdown of the week against the Packers. Blount took the hand off at his 46 yard line and broke not one, not two, not three, not four, not five, but six tackles on his way to the end zone. His run was fueled with anger and looked like controlled chaos. Blount finished the game with 107 yards and a score, but his Bucs fell short against the Pack, 35-26.

Stud of the Week: Kevin Smith’s Return

Talking about resurrecting a career! Kevin Smith was out of football when Jahvid Best went down with a concussion. The Lions came calling and he is producing. Smith ran for 140 yards on 16 carries and scored two touchdowns in the comeback victory over the Panthers.

Get your waiver wire claims in now because Kevin Smith will be long gone and hard to find.

Dud(s) of the Week: The Bungling Buffalo Bills

After a 5-2 start, The Bills are getting stampeded by the competition.  Buffalo had their heads handed to them by the Dolphins for their third straight loss. They have been outscored 106-26 in those games. The once potent offense is a shell of itself. Ryan Fitzpatrick has crashed down to Earth and is a turnover machine. The defense can’t stop anybody as their playoff hopes dwindle.

NFL All-FanFeedr Team for Week Eleven

Each week FanFeedr will bring you the NFL All-FanFeedr team. These players were game changers on the gridiron. These players were instrumental in leading their teams to victory. These are the players you wish you had on your fantasy team.

Quarterback: Matthew Stafford, Detroit Lions

After a rough game in Chicago where he threw four picks, Matthew Stafford rebounded after a slow start against the Panthers. Stafford led the Lions to a comeback 49-35 victory over Carolina after they trailed 24-7. The Lions signal caller went 28 for 36 for 335 yards and five touchdowns.

Running Back: Kevin Smith, Detroit Lions

Running Back: Ray Rice, Baltimore Ravens

After two sub-par performances with only 77 yards rushing, Ray Rice bounced back in a big way. Rice carried the ball 20 times for 104 yards with two touchdowns. He also was a threat in the passing game, he made five catches for 43 yards.

Wide Receiver: Torrey Smith, Baltimore Ravens

Torrey Smith is a burner and he made the Bengals secondary look like toast. The speedy wide out hauled in six catches for 165 yards. He also added an electrifying 38 yard touchdown catch and run.

Wide Receiver: Roddy White, Atlanta Falcons

Roddy White has been invisible for most of the season in the Falcons passing game. White posted his best game of the season with Julio Jones out. He hauled in seven catches for 147 yards. He made fantasy owners very happy…..finally.

Wide Receiver (Honorable Mention): Jordy Nelson, Green Bay Packers

With Aaron Rodgers as your quarterback, anyone on the Packers could make the All-Fan Feedr team on a weekly basis.  Jordy Nelson was Aaron Rodgers’ favorite target on this day. The tandem connected six time for 123 yards and two scores.

Tight End: Rob Gronkowski, New England Patriots

Rob Gronkowski is the best tight end in football and he may be on All-FanFeedr team on a weekly basis. The man they call “Gronk” continues to dismantle opposing defenses. Gronkowski caught four passes for 96 yards and two touchdowns. On his second score, he was flipped in the air and landed on his neck. Many thought he was injured, but in true “Gronk” fashion he got up and spiked the ball.

Kicker: Matt Bryant, Atlanta Falcons

Falcons’ kicker Matt Bryant converted on all of his opportunities in the 23-17 victory over Tennessee. He kicked field goals of 19, 33, and 24 yards. Bryant also converted on two extra points to give him 11 points in the game.

Defender/Special Teams Standout: Chris Clemons, Seattle Seahawks

Defensive end Chris Clemons terrorized Rams quarterback Sam Bradford all game. He recorded three sacks and forced two fumbles. He also added five tackles as the Seattle defense stymied the Rams, 24-7.

Defense/Special Teams: New England Patriots

The New England Patriots defense had their way with Chiefs quarterback, Tyler Palko. Palko was sacked three times and threw three interceptions. New England defensive back Kyle Arrington recorded his sixth and seventh interceptions of the year to lead the NFL. Julien Edelman added a 72 yard punt return for a touchdown.

NFL Game Review: Chiefs @ Patriots

After a slow start the New England Patriots (7-3) righted the ship and dismantled the Kansas City Chiefs (4-6) on Monday night football. The Patriots trailed 3-0 before scoring 34 unanswered points. New England now has a two game lead in the AFC East over the Jets and Bills. Kansas City suffered their third straight loss.
